ABC Hands Holey Moley a Two Season Renewal

The hit summer extreme mini-golf show will be sticking around ABC for quite sometime. Yesterday, the network handed Holey Moley a two season pickup. The show had already begun casting for a third season so the pickup was no surprise. However, you don't typically see multi-season renewals for network primetime game shows.

While an airdate was not mentioned in the press release, one can expect that it will keep it's normal summer slot. No details were provided except that Joe Tessitore, Rob Riggle and Jeannie Mai will all be returning. Executive producer and resident golf pro Stephen Curry will return. No other details about the format for the upcoming seasons was announced.

Holey Moley has been a solid summer performer for the network, and it's a show everyone can enjoy. It's no surprise that ABC wanted more. It will be interesting to see how ABC handles the taping, and you would assume that it would be unlikely to have an audience if taped here in the US. (The first two seasons were taped at the Sable Ranch in California). The show would look a little different without an audience, and seeing that Season 2 had an audience, it was taped pre-pandemic. The show has many international versions so it's possible it tapes overseas as well.

There is still 11 more ABC game shows that are pending decisions. Press Your Luck and The Chase are currently casting, so it's reasonable to assume that both of those shows will be back. The $100,000 Pyramid has a full season taped and ready. Celebrity Family Feud will also no doubt be back. We will go into more detail about the status of the rest of the ABC shows. They typically announce renewals for a lot of the summer shows all at once, so announcements should be any day now, as they would need to cast and tape for potential summer runs.
