The Wall Renewed for Season 4
The show is basically a giant version of Plinko, with a top prize of $13 million. The show has crowned more million dollar winners than any other game show with four already this season.
The Wall exploded on the scene in December 2016 and quickly became a hit. A month after the show premiered, NBC renewed it for a 20 episode second season, with a few holidays specials in between. In 2018, the show was again renewed for 20 more episodes, but that's when things got dicey. The host Chris Hardwick was hit with sexual assault allegations, so the show was put on hold. He was eventually cleared and kept his duties as host. The episodes were taped but NBC didn't mention the show. The show was suppose to start a summer run in 2019, but the season was delayed and reruns aired instead.
After nearly two years, NBC scheduled the third season in March 2020 on Sundays. After a ten week run, the show moved to Mondays until July, where it was again abruptly put into reruns with five episodes remaining. At this point, it seemed like NBC was going to burn off the remaining episodes and the show would ride into the sunset.
Then a new episode aired last Thursday with little to no notice or promotion. No one will ever know why NBC waited almost two years in between seasons but either way, it will be back for another 20 episodes. It's possible the pandemic led to the renewal as it's a very easy game show to tape with the current protocols. It does also make good filler content.
Three episodes remain and are scheduled for October 1, October 21 and October 28. It is possible that the show gets a holiday special. A casting notice is already out and you can apply here but we probably won't see the new season until 2021. We will update the article if new information becomes available.
