Dwyane Wade to Host US Version of The Cube

About a month ago, casting calls went out for a US version of The Cube and now thanks to Deadline, we have some more information regarding the US version.

WarnerMedia is handling the show here in the US and has given it a ten episode order. What is not yet known is which of the company's networks or digital platforms it will air on. WarnerMedia owns popular cable networks TBS, TNT and truTV, as well as he recently launched HBO Max. The show is expected to launch in 2021 and announcement on the network will come closer to its premier date. This likely means the show's top prize won't be as high as if it was on a major broadcast network, but there is the potential to cross-air it.

My guess is that one of WarnerMedia's major cable networks will air the show and then the episodes will be available on their streamer HBO Max shortly after they air on TV. TBS probably is the biggest of the three cable networks they own, but the revival of Wipeout is also supposed to be going to TBS as well.

We also now known that Dwyane Wade will host and be an executive producer of the show. The show will feature some new twists were Wade will have the opportunity to enter the cube and help the contestant. It will also have the latest state of the art filming techniques and augmented GFC and camera technology.

The press releases mentions that the show is taped in front of a large studio audience, but with the current COVID-19, it's unsure if that will be the case. No official tape dates have been announced but with the show next expected til 2021, it's safe to say that WarnerMedia isn't rushing into production with this.

The Cubs is a British format that is immensely popular that just got rebooted in the UK. There have been several failed US pilots for the show, but this appears to be the closest it's been to coming to the US. The show pits teams of contestants to complete simple challenges under pressure in a small glass cube.
