FOX Revives "Name That Tune; Orders "Game of Talents" To Series

FOX continues their commitment to unscripted shows with the pick-up of two game shows, a revival of Name That Tune and a series order for Fremantle's remake of the Spanish game Game of Talents.

Rumors started swirling about a Name That Tune revival when an Australian blog mentioned that a revival was in the works for U.S. television, but was going to be filmed in Australia. Jane Krakowski has been tabbed for hosting duties and former American Idol judge Randy Jackson will be the band leader. The show is currently taping in Australia using Americans living in Australia as contestants and apparently will feature an audience.

The ten episode revival will premiere on Wednesday, January 6th at 9/8c, following The Masked Dancer. It takes the place of FOX's other musical game show I Can See Your Voice, which finishes it's first season in a few weeks.

CBS attempted to reboot the format back in 2017 with Elizabeth Banks as host, but ultimately passed on it. The show will come from Eureka Productions (same group behind Holey Moley) and will feature two standalone half-hour games. Some elements from the original version including the Bid-A-Note round and the Golden Medley bonus round will return with a top prize of $100,000.

Of course, this is an interesting pick up for FOX as Beat Shazam, which was renewed for a fourth season in January and is in the can waiting to air, is very similar, but at least for now, FOX thinks both shows can co-exist. This likely means Beat Shazam will  air in Summer 2021 after taking this past summer off.

FOX's other pickup is the Fremantle variety game show Game of Talents. This is an American adaptation of the Spanish version under the same name. The show will be hosted by Wayne Brady and is currently in production in Los Angeles for a premiere in 2021.

The show is very similar to FOX's new musical show I Can See Your Voice as a contestant will attempt to guess the performers hidden talent, based only on their first impressions and a few wily clues. The top prize is over $200,000. No exact premiere date or episode count has been announced but it's likely a late spring or summer 2021 premire.

FOX still has the fourth season of Beat Shazam and the second season of Mental Samurai taped and ready to go.
