Card Sharks, Sweep set to go into production

Card Sharks - Wikipedia

Despite the number of COVID-19 cases increasing in many states, production is beginning to ramp up on some shows.

A few soap operas have gone into production, America's Got Talent went back into production last week as well and now two ABC game shows are scheduled to ramp back up again too.

According to a Facebook post by TV annoucer Randy West, ABCs second season of Card Sharks is expected to beginning taping this week without an audience. The revival hosted by Joel McHale feed off the audience in season one. This is a show that will look noticeably different without one. No word yet on any format changes or when ABC would plan on airing it, but if it is able to successfully tape this week, I can't see ABC holding it all the way til next summer. They could stick it on their summer schedule and air through September if they are concerned that they might have to start the Fall season later than usual. Most likely, it could be used as mid season filler.

The revival of Supermarket Sweep is also expected to begin taping right after Card Sharks finishes. Again, the show will tape without an audience, which is not really necessary. In the previous versions, the audience was rarely seen and not really an integral part of the show. The Leslie Jones fronted revival is expected to premiere this fall.

West went on to talk about how Let's Make a Deal and The Price is Right will struggle to get back into production without an audience, as both of those shows need an audience. There is apparently some new ideas for how to get Jeopardy and Wheel back into production too. Wheel is a bit hard since contestants are spinning and touching a giant wheel. Both really don't need audiences though.

No word was made yet on Pyramid or Millionaire. Millionaire has not done any sort of casting so it's looking likely that it will be another celebrity edition again this fall.

Stay tuned...we will update the Game show status page with this info as well.
