Millionaire and Supermarket Sweep return this fall

Watch Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV Show - ABC.com

Well, it's official. ABC is expanding the Sunday Fun and Games brand into the Fall.  Last week, ABC announced that the revival of Supermarket Sweep will air Sundays at 8/7c, followed by a new season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

This marks the first time since the Fun and Games brand started that ABC has put game shows on the fall schedule. They have used a few game shows as midseason filler.

We know that Sweep is currently casting, but no word on when it will tape and whether it will have an audience. We know Leslie Jones will be the host. The show is scheduled to be a full hour, but no other details are none yet. My hope is that ABC goes the Press Your Luck route and makes a full one hour show instead of two self-contained half hour segments.

As for Millionaire, Jimmy Kimmel will return as host. No word on if it will stay a celebrity edition or if we will get civilians this time. There is no casting notice out at the moment but the producers have expressed interest in doing a civilian version.

Obviously, ABC must be confident that they can get both these shows taped in time for a fall launch. It seems like unscripted TV shows will have an easier time getting back into production. No word on the episode count but I think ABC is going to tape a quite a bit of episodes, even if they don't end up airing them all before Idol returns in the spring. More details once it becomes available.
